We had another great break spent in Oregon. Although I was only able to capture one event that occurred, we also celebrated 2 birthdays, attended 2 ugly sweater parties, 2 christmas dinners, ate at the fabulous Roadhouse grill, spent New Year's at the coast and watched the one and they only OREGON football team WIN the ROSE BOWL!!!

A couple days before Christmas we headed to the shop to ride go-carts and play with our nerf guns.

I had the opportunity to spend a couple days on the east coast with my parents, while they had there trade-show for fabric.

We had the opportunity to see Wicked and it was FANTASTIC!

We went by the place where the film DC Cupcakes and then we went to their store that was just a couple blocks down and purchased some of the most delicious cupcakes.

We went sight-seeing on these fun double decker busses.

We headed down to SLC for our first live college football game. We were hoping for Utah to win and they did, they smoked the Beavs.

BYU-I has an apple orchard that the students maintain in there horticulture classes and they sell apples to the community.

We headed up to Portland for our anniversary, checked out OHSU's dental school and met up with some friends and they took us to the Portland Zoo

This is a tricycle for an elephant

This poor little guy got his head stuck in between the two bars so he was doing everything he could to get it out, he tried turning sideways, biting the wire and nothing worked. We left as the zoo keepers got there and he finally was free.

If you look closely you can see the Giraffe behind us.

Robby's family had a fun reunion this last week. It was fun seeing cousins, aunts, and uncles that live far away. We had a blast playing games and BBQing!

We headed to the pharmacy to get our 25¢ phosphates

Brandon and Michelle set up Minute to Win It, Rob and I were together in the finale but he beat me in the last challenge.

We cruised down the river on the jetboats and had a fabulous dinner.

Found these dressers at a garage sale for a steal! They just needed a little bit of a clean up.

I used a smoke gray spray paint and antiquing glaze to make it look rustic. I can't decide if I want to put handles or knobs on. Any suggestions??

Weekend Getaway!

It has been one long semester! We were eager to get away for a little R&R. It's felt so good to be with family again and are grateful for the sacrifice everyone was able to make to get together again.

Lately we've been hitting up the garage sales, and we have found so many great things. A couple weeks ago we went by a garage sale and got Broc a really nice suit for church. This week we got 2 dressers and this magnet board.

We didn't like the look of the frame with paper glued to it. We stripped the paper off and sanded everything down and put a couple coats of black spray paint on.

We sanded around the edges to get this vintage look. We love our new magnet board.

We celebrated the 4th with our really good friends The King's. I went to hair school with Kacie and Robby and Jason applied to Dental School together and are hoping to get into the same school.

"R" Mountain

It's finally hot here! So we took a hike up "R" mountain, one of the things we have wanted to do before we leave here.

We headed to Idaho Falls and walked around down by the temple and the falls.

And he blew out the candle to finish off the weekend with some friends. Eliza got pretty jealous that it wasn't her birthday, so Robby lit the candle up again and let her blow it out.

Button-Up Skirt Redo

I found this great idea, went straight to the DI and was able to snatch this skirt up. Unfortunately I forgot to snap a before picture, I was just so excited to get right to work.

The skirt was a little smaller on top so I took out the middle of the skirt and unstitched the back pockets and fitted it to my waist.

Robby has been attending the Dental Society at school. It's where a bunch of pre-dental students get together and learn about current Dental issues, hear from Dental professionals and have fun! Last week they were asked to carve models of a tooth out of wax. Robby chose the molar.

We just had a very fun Valentines Day party. There was a cake competition, newlywed game and dinner. Our Bishop is so wonderful and provided us with food from the Olive Garden and he had all the of his kids and grandkids serve us. More pictures to come. We got picked to be 1 of 6 couples to play the newlywed game and we didn't do so hot.

Hard Rock

My dad has been a collector of the Hard Rock Cafe shirts for years and years. I stole his shirts out the closet with the help of my mom. So I surprised him with a blanket made out of all of his shirts and flannel.

I didn't get a very good picture of the back.

We have been so crazy busy since Christmas. I decided to go back to school this semester and get my associates and Rob and I will be able to graduate together hopefully next April. We have a few exciting things coming up in the next few months so stay tuned...

Highlights of 2010

This New Years was not spent out at the dunes, but we still found a way to have a good time. All the adults were chaperones for the Stake Youth Dance. It was a hit, we got all decked out for the dance. Rob made us all suspenders in all kinds of colors

The highlight of this outfit was the size 20 shoes! My dad could fit his shoes inside of these.

Ugly Sweater Party

Michelle and Brandon held their first Ugly Sweater party it was a hit. We weren't really prepared this time, we got our outfits together about an hour before the party. Next year will be better. We didn't get good pictures of our sweaters, but some is better than none. Rob made his out of felt and thread and I just found one at Goodwill

We had a great Thanksgiving, the roads were more then crazy after two storms had hit pretty hard. But it was well worth it to see my family. And its not a Thanksgiving break if you don't hit up Black Friday. We were in a tiny town and all they had was Sears and Fred Meyer, but all that matters is those half off socks right?! It's worth to get up at 6am to see all the shoppers and do a little shopping myself.

Hope everyone had a great Halloween! The week of Halloween we were pretty bummed because we didn't have any Halloween parties to attend. We got talking to some friends and they said we had a ward party and we were so excited. We ended up having 3 parties to go to it was a fun weekend.

This was at our ward party. We won "Best Dressed", Amazing since it was such a last minute thing.

My Grandma & Grandpa knew this family when they served in Arkansas. We found out through the grapevine that the daughter and her little girl were in our ward. The mom came for Halloween so it was fun to chat with them about my grandparents.

We headed down to Utah for a wedding and baptism and we happened to bump into my uncle while he was there. It good to see him after 2 years!

The scariest part was the chainsaw that followed you at the very end

Our friend had gone to the bathroom, all the scary guys surrounded it while shaking and banging on it. Scared her so bad she wouldn't come out for 10 minutes. Everyone went a second time but me, so while I was outside talking to the owner he gave me two free passes for us to come back again! I guess it pays to be scared sometimes.

This used to be my place of employment during the summers, and I absolutely loved it! I miss the tips, people, co-workers, boat drivers. Almost everything about this job was great! It was fun to go back and see friends that were still working there 2 summers later.

I should have taken a picture of my parents on the boat ride home. They were well prepared...brought their raincoats and wrapped trash bags around their legs!

Brandon, Michelle, and Rob all went snorkeling for their first time and loved it. I'm not very fond of swimming with critters all around so I opted out and stayed on the beach

This flower was given to me by an older lady that worked at the luau. She hand picks flowers from her house everyday to put in her hair for the luau, and the first person that compliments the flower gets the pleasure of taking that flower home. Lets just say I was pretty jazzed to take that home.

We had been hearing about JoJo's for a long time from my parents, so we decided to give it a try. They had really good macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom of the shaved ice.

This is what they had on the front door. Everyone on the islands are so laid back.

Our last day on the islands we hurried to the airport to see if we could get on any earlier flights to Honolulu so we could see the temple, and campus. After all the trouble over the phone with the airlines, we finally got on a flight and were able to see a few things on Oahu

My family came to visit, one of the stops we made was Big Judd's, known for there 1 pounder, but they also have 2, 3, 4, & 5 pounders!

We visited Jackson. I love spending at least one day a year here. We visited all the shops, saw the shoot out at town square and watched "Annie Get Your Gun" in the Playhouse theater.

This is one of Robby's mission companion, he does the shoot outs, he was in "Annie Get Your Gun" and he puts on theater camps for kids. It was fun to see a familiar face up there.

Mongolian Dumplings

It is so fun to be up here in Rexburg and to have so many cultures surrounding you. Yesterday we had an RS Activity and a lady from Mongolia taught us how to make these simple, yet amazing dumplings

Mongolian Dumplings

1. Make dough (bread dough, pizza dough, store-bought frozen rolls)

2. Make the filling

Filling:

1lb chopped or ground beef (not cooked)

1-1/2 t. salt

1/4 t. pepper

1/2 onion, finely chopped

2 cups chopped cabbage or 1 cup shredded carrots

cooking oil

Roll the dough into ovals about the size of your palm. Place the filling inside dough and fold over to make it look like a half circle. Pinch the edges together. Deep fry them in oil until it turns golden brown.

It's my 100th post!!

Were glad to have this back. It's been in the shop for the last month getting fixed. Its really convenient for parking when you go to a concert, you always get front row. Plus it's summer and its nice to feel a cool breeze as your riding on it. Yes, Mom & Dad we do wear our helmets but for the purpose of the photo it didn't really work out.

Last night we went to a David Archuleta concert. We were pretty close to the stage about 50 ft away. David Osmond opened for David Archuleta.

I am so excited for this post. I usually always go by recipes and cook the same thing all the time. But I decided to go outside my box and came up with this.

Stir Fry

2- chicken breasts

1 bunch of broccoli

1 T- ginger root

1 T- garlic

2 T- olive oil

2 C- rice

2 T- soy sauce

chinese noodles (optional)

1. cook rice (I just used my rice cooker)

2. boil chicken

3. chop chicken

4. add chicken, broccoli, ginger root, and garlic into a wok cook until chicken is brown

5. add rice and soy sauce into walk stir for 3 minutes

Bountiful Baskets

A couple months ago I heard about this Bountiful Basket program from a friend from school. So today we decided to check it out.

What it is...is you sign-up online at bountifulbaskets.org to order things like fresh fruits and vegetables, mexican, chinese, tortillas and bread packs

for almost half the cost. (only Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Arizona and Washington have it... sorry Oregon friends) So I've been online waiting for a place near us that was worth the drive. We ended up paying $20 for $40 worth in fresh fruits and vegetables, and it will help us eat a little healthier, hopefully.

They do it every week but were probably good for the next 3 weeks!

This week we received lettuce, celery, cilantro, tomatillos, green onions, bananas, apples, tomatoes, potatoes, avocados (my favorite), pineapple, garlic, limes, white onions, spinach, sweet chard (I have no idea what this is or how to use it, if you have any suggestions that would be great!)

I have finally, well almost finished school and graduated. I still have to finish up the rest of my 2000 hours. I graduated on the 26th, but my last day at school will be the 31st. I passed my state tests, so now I'll be waiting patiently for my license, and then I can start in a salon. I'm so grateful for the opportunity and education I had from the school. My parents were able to come up for a couple days , I'm grateful for their support.

I had a great time in Vegas 2 weeks ago at a hair show. I was able to handout my resume to tons of high end salons. I met with lots of great platform artist from all over the country. Donny & Marie Osmond came and spoke to us and gave us inspiring words to attain our dreams. Dean Banowitz (american idol stylist for 5 seasons) spoke to us. A photographer, a friend, and a classmate took time out of her busy schedule to photograph these lovely models. I did a cut and color on each of these girls before the shoot. I had so much fun styling their hair, picking out clothes, doing their make-up, and posing them.

Just an update...

This year we stayed in Rexburg for Thanksgiving, with Robby working in retail they needed him for black friday. Our ward had a dinner, so we were grateful we didn't have to cook our Thanksgiving meal. Today we woke up at 6 hoping for some good sales, but we were pretty disappointed. We also set up our Christmas tree and got all our Christmas music out!

Last week we had the opportunity to have Winn Claybaugh, motivational speaker and dean of the Paul Mitchell schools come to speak to us. He has spoken at many seminars and lots of different companies. He also wrote a book called Be Nice (or else!). Awesome book on finding the positive things in life, if you have a chance read it.

About 4 months ago all 6 kids started planning a little 25th Anniversary party for my parents. We had to keep it a secret from my parents that we were coming down and we had to work really hard to make sure they didn't go on vacation. We went down for the weekend on a Friday. While they were in getting ready to go to the temple Brandon, Michelle, Rob and I snuck into the living room and sat down. As they came out they saw Brandon and Michelle first and then they saw Robby and I (we were hiding behind the TV). I think my mom almost had her first heart attack. We had a ton of things to squeeze into one weekend. We went to the temple that night. The next morning we woke up to go wake boarding. The boys went golfing on Saturday afternoon. We told them we were having a family dinner later that night at grandmas, and thats why we had been down there so much so we could set dinner up really nice. But really we were setting up for the party. When they got there they sure were surprised. On Sunday we went to church and ate dinner with Robby's family. Monday we left, I always hate saying good-bye...in 7 years we won't have to anymore!

This is also a recommended restaurant in Rexburg.

Rob & I were very grateful to have my family there and it was a blast to do lots of fun things and we were sad to see them leave

We were able to see Old Faithful. We missed the geyser erupt up close, but we saw it from the parking lot. For lunch we went to Buckaroo Bills, I would recommend it to anyone to goes up there.

Our first experience at a Rodeo was GREAT! We loved it, we went down to Preston, ID with some friends and look forward to attending more Rodeos.

Sudoku-Farewell-Crazy Drivers

This last Saturday we headed down to Utah for my cousin Lauren's farewell. She is going to the Belgium Brussels/Netherlands Mission. I will miss her and can't wait to hear how she is doing.

We stayed with my cousin Brandt and their family and they got us hooked on Sudoku and I can't get enough of it. Since we've gotten home I've done 4 puzzles, its definitely better-for-you than watching the HGTV although I do love that show.

As we were driving home we came up on this dodge stratus that was entering the freeway, so we got over into the left lane to pass it. The next thing we knew, the stratus was flying up on our butts so we got over in the right lane to let it pass us. It did so but then immediately jumped over in front of us and then slammed on their brakes. So we slowed down and then got over in the left lane to pass it again because it was going too slow. But then as we were trying to pass it it cut us off and slammed on its brakes again. So Robby started to get really ticked off, because it seemed like they were trying to make us stop and then do who knows what to us. So Robby started speeding up and got really close to their back bumper and then quickly changed lanes to try to pass it again(in the right lane). We barely got up to the side of it when it started veering towards to run us off the road, so we slammed on the brakes again. We hung back for a while and Robby told me to call 911 and to write down the plate #.

So right away I frantically searched for my phone, a pen and piece of paper to get their license plate number. I called 911 and was directed to the State Police and I was trying to tell them the story as my voice is quivering and they said they'll look out for them and call us back if they find them so we can sign the citation.

We end up getting past them somehow, and right as we get into Pocatello we see a dodge stratus pulled over but was not the same car that was giving us trouble. But I didn't want to call them to tell them that, and then find out they were pulled over for a different reason, so the Police never called us back. And we got out of there alive.

Long or Short?

Never thought I would do this...

Ever since we've been married Robby wouldn't let me cut my hair short. But a week ago I started looking in magazines for short cuts, so I finally convinced him to let me do it! I must say that my hair feels a ton healthier and it takes 10 minutes to do. There are some downfalls-- no more curling hair and it barely fits in a ponytail. For now I LOVE it!
